The president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands and of the Conference of Regional Legislative Assemblies of the European Union (CALRE), Gustavo Matos, transferred this Thursday to the Minister of Territorial Policy and Public Function, Miquel Iceta, his commitment to increase the weight and leadership of assemblies in decision-making around the European project.
Matos recalled that the 72 parliaments and assemblies with legislative capacity integrated in CALRE represent 200 million people, “hence the importance of transferring European policies to citizens through these institutions in a more direct way.”
