The Parliament of the Canary Islands opens collaboration lines with the United Nations Development Program

The president, Carolina Darias, presented in Brussels the project for a Canarian strategy of sustainable development launched by the chamber.

The President of the Canary Islands Parliament, Carolina Darias, presented these morning in Brussels the project for the “Canarian strategy for sustainable development within the framework of the UN 2030 Agenda”, during two meetings with the representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Brussels, Johannes Krassnitzer, and Miguel Gil-Tertre, head of the European Commission’s General Secretariat, in charge of the European Strategy 2020 and its relationship with the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

Krassnitzer considered that the Canary Islands initiative is “of great interest” and can serve as a point of reference for other territories to continue to advance the Agenda 2030 goals. “We have found a natural ally,” said the president, who revealed that both institutions “will continue to collaborate in the definition of strategies”.
